Apples!

To kick off the new school year we are starting with apples! We have been studying all about Johnny Appleseed. This kids were able to taste apple sauce, apple juice, apple pie and many more yummy treats! We also created apple stain glass window art on Friday. Next week we will go back to the science lab for more apple experiments!

3…2…1…SUMMER!

The countdown has sadly come to an end. On Wednesday, we had a dance party in our room. We created a big dance circle, and let me just say, I have learned some new moves from your children! On Thursday, we went outside and had field day. We played a large game of Red Rover! Some of the kids had already played it before, but it was new to some and they really enjoyed it! Today, our last day of school, we are going to spend it watching movies and reading Wayside School. I am sure you have heard a lot about the book series! The children have fallen in love with the books and would get excited every day just to read a new chapter!

It has been the most amazing year for me and I wanted to thank each one of you for trusting me with your child. Each one holds a special place in my heart and will never be forgotten! Have a wonderful summer!

4 days to go!

We can count the days until summer on one hand! Today we had a hula hoop contest which was quite enjoyable! We had to work off all of our energy from challenge day and concession candy and this was the perfect way to do it!

7…6…5…

The days are dwindling down! I can't believe we are down to our last week of 1st grade! Even the kids are saying it went by too fast! For day 7 we celebrated with extra recess! They enjoyed having the entire playground to themselves! Days 6 and 5 were all about food. On Friday we had a popsicle party and Monday was a popcorn party! The anticipation of what activity is inside the balloon brings excitement to the room every morning! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the week will bring!

And on the 8^th day…

When we popped our balloon this morning, the note said the students were able to write with a marker or crayon ALL DAY! The excitement quickly spread throughout the room! However, we also learned how valuable erasers are! All of the work your child brings home today will be very colorful!

To continue our summer countdown we had a paper airplane flying contest! Each student made their own airplane and we flew them outside while enjoying the beautiful weather!

Summer Countdown

I can’t believe the school year is almost over! It has been such a wonderful year! We are celebrating the last 10 days together with a balloon countdown. Each day we will pop a balloon and do the fun activity inside of it! Today we blew bubbles outside at the end of the school day!
