Christmas Party

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Christmas party a success! The kids had a great time celebrating Christmas in Mexico. I always want to thank everyone for my wonderful gifts. I really appreciate them! I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas. See you in 2015!

Happy Monday! I can't believe we are practically half way done with the school year! It's crazy! Here is all the information you need for this week.

Reminders:
-Wednesday is our Christmas Party! The students may wear Christmas colors. Thank you for all your time and work planning our party!
-We will dismiss at 11:45 on Wednesday and Thursday.
-Classes will resume January 6, 2015.

-Students are required to get TWO green lights BEFORE Thursday of this week.
-Christmas BINGO card and Go Math Academy information was sent home today. It is required and will be due January 6th..

Bee of the Week: Logan

Our Bee of the Week this week is Logan! He is six years old and will celebrating his golden birthday in March. He loves the color red, horses, reading Green Eggs and Ham, and playing tennis. He is a star because he is smart. Over the weekend, Logan and Buzzy went to the library, read books, colored, and went to church on Sunday. They had a great weekend together!

Teamwork Math

Our math lesson today was taught mostly through teamwork. The students combined their addition and subtraction skills to make lists of different ways to make numbers up to 20. It was amazing to see all of the different ways they came up with. We even had a group that used negative numbers!

Thanksgiving!

This week we have been talking about Thanksgiving and the many things we are thankful for. The top 3 things we, as a class, are thankful for are God, our family, and food. We also made a class book about if we were a turkey how would we disguise ourselves on Thanksgiving day. The kids thought of some great disguises! Today we talked about the Mayflower and made special hats to wear to lunch where our fabulous room mother provided cupcakes for us to enjoy! I hope you all have a safe and fabulous Thanksgiving with your families.

Bee of the Week: Hudson!

Hudson is our bee of the week this week! He is about to be 7 years old in December. He wants to be a cop when he grows up. Some of his favorite things are the color red, snakes, hot dogs, baseball, and playing video games. Hudson had his birthday party this weekend so he and Buzzy had a great time playing with his friends at the party. They also played with Hudson's puppy and rode his bike. That sounds like a fabulous weekend!

Math Lab

Today we took a special trip to the lab to play some fun math games. Mrs. Becky Froedge brought math manipulatives to use while doing addition and subtraction sentences. The students went to 4 different stations and had a blast with the big dice! 




Bee of the Week: Kinsey!

Kinsey is our bee of the week this week! She just turned 7 on Wednesday! When she grows up she wants to be a vet. Some of her favorite things are the color blue, dogs, spaghetti, and cheerleading. She is a star because she can color really well. Over the weekend Kinsey and Buzzy played dress up, cheered on the tigers, and jumped in her bouncy house. They had such a fun weekend!

Dress Chapel

Today we had Mr. Cole come and speak to us in chapel. He taught the kids all about God's armor and how it protects us from evil. The class really enjoyed what he taught them...and they looked so cute in their dress clothes! Here is a picture!

Bee of the Week: Jackson!

Jackson is our bee of the week this week! He is 6 years old and lives with his mom, dad, and big brother Reece. When he grows up he wants to be a farmer. Some of his favorite things are the color blue, wolves, salisbury steak, and playing with Legos. He is a star because he is a good country singer. Over the weekend Jackson and Buzzy ate candy, went to the corn maze, and played at Peyton's birthday party! They had a very fun weekend!

Pumpkin Lab day 2&3

Well if you are still wondering if a pumpkin will sink or float in water.... It floats! We had 2 students make the correct prediction. They were amazed when it didn't sink to the bottom. The students had the chance to taste pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin seeds. The class favorite was Coach Cole's pumpkin bread!

Pumpkin Lab Day 1

This week we are studying all about pumpkins. Today we went to the science lab where we made predictions and estimations on the height and circumference of a pumpkin. Each student pulled a piece of yarn to make their predictions of the circumference. Then we found the actual measurement. A few students had a perfect prediction! Then we estimated the height of the pumpkin and measured it with snap cubes. Tomorrow we will learn if a pumpkin will sink or float! What is your guess??




Bee of the week: Mason!

Mason is our bee of the week for this week. He is 7 years old and has a big sister named Maggie. He loves the color blue, eating apples, and reading Captain Underpants. Mason took Buzzy to Pumpkin Palooza over the weekend. He dressed as a power ranger while Buzzy went as Minnie Mouse! Mason said they had a great weekend together!

Weekly Information 10/27-10/31

Good Morning! I can't believe this is the last week in October. The year is going by so quickly! Here is all the information you will need to know for this week.

Reminders:
-Unit 2 week 3 begins today. This information will be tested on Friday 10/31. The children will be responsible for reading answer choices on their own.
-Reflex Math work at home is required at least 3 days a week. A session is complete when the student reaches the green light. If 3 green lights are not achieved in a week (Friday-Thursday), a mark for not completing homework will be put on the Eli Way chart. Many children are enjoying this program and making great progress.

Community Helper Dress Day

Today was a very fun today. I was very impressed by the community helpers the children chose to dress as. We had vets, cops, construction workers, a military man and teachers. We also had a visit from a real vet. She talked to the kids about the importance of caring for their pets and all animals. The students were able to pet her dog, Cotton, and her kitten, Nugget.








Bee of the Week: Allie

Our special student this week is Allie! Some of her favorite things are macaroni, the color blue, doing gymnastics and reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Allie and Buzzy spent the weekend together doing lots of cool things. They went to the pumpkin patch, watched movies, and Buzzy enjoyed a nice bubble bath! We love learning new things about Allie!

K-9 Unit

This week we are learning about many different community helpers. We had a special visit from the Louisiana K-9 division at school today. Two officers and their K-9 partners did a demonstration on how they help keep our community safe. The students loved learning about all of the astonishing things Zorro and Tag could do.

Pajama Day

Wake up Wednesday was a success! Going to school in our pjs was so comfy and everyone got to enjoy a free sinky feet coupon! We decided that every day should be pajama day!

Aubree and Buzzy spent the weekend together doing lots of cool things. They went to the zoo and had a special meal at Burger King! We love learning new things about Aubree everyday! 

Hat Day/ Bible Buddies

To continue our homecoming festivities, we celebrated hat day on Tuesday! My class had some awesome hats! We also had our middle school bible buddies visit for the first time this year. We enjoyed getting to know them and are excited for them to return!
