4...3...2...1...SUMMER!

Well it's official... You now have a 2nd grader! We had such a great last week of school! The balloon on Monday was an art day. Tuesday was an end of the year party with pizza, cookie cake, pixie sticks, and bubbles! Yesterday was 80's day and today was shaving cream! They REALLY enjoyed the shaving cream-- they had it everywhere! It's been a great year and I will truly miss every student in my class. Enjoy your summer!

Countdown to the end!

I am sure you have heard about the balloons all over our classroom. We are popping a balloon each day to countdown the days until summer! Day 9 was a full day of stinky feet! They loved spending the entire day in their socks! Day 8 was clay day. We had a clay creation contest and each creation was awesome and quite inventive. Day 7 was a hula hoop party! We spent the end of the school day hula hooping outside and enjoying the weather! Day 6 was extra recess! The kids had been waiting for this one-- somehow they knew I would put that in a balloon! Stay tuned for the rest of the balloons...

Global Wildlife!

Our last field trip of the year was a success! This truly was the best year for the animals. We normally don't see that many giraffes! We were very lucky!

Since our sound of the week was "oi", I thought it would be fun to create "oink" pig noses. The class had such a fun time thinking of "oi" words and pretending they were pigs. It became quite loud with all of the snorts echoing in the cups!

Larry the Leprechaun

I am sure you have heard about this pesky leprechaun named Larry that is roaming the halls of our school. This morning he made a complete mess of our desk chairs and didn't apologize! All he asked was that we give him more Lucky Charms! Then, while we were gone at lunch he came back and threw the Lucky Charms all over the classroom! Well we were very determined to find Larry so we went out looking for him. We looked all over the school for any clues and traces of him. We checked the hallways, the sanctuary, the playground, and the football field. We still have not found him! Hopefully tomorrow he will show up!

The Cat in the Hat

We finished up our Dr. Seuss week by making a Cat in the Hat hat! The students had to think of different places they would like to read. Let me just say we had quite a few interesting reading spots! Our Read Across America competition ends today. We counted how many books we read this week and our total was.....457 books!! WOW! We will find out Monday if our class won the competition or not!

Favorite Book Character Day

Today is dress as your favorite book character day! Our class had such a great turn out of children who dressed up. We had students dress up as characters from Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Cat in the Hat, Wacky Wednesday, Amelia Bedelia, Fancy Nancy, and many more! It is always fun when students realize how enjoyable reading can be.

We are also having a elementary school competition to see which class can read the most books this week. Our class is up to around 200 books! WOW! Keep urging your child to read and record those books so we can keep the tally marks going!

Bee of the Week: Cole

Cole is our special student for this week! He loves the color red, parrots, monkey bread, playing dodge ball, and playing games like Halo and Minecraft. Over the weekend Cole and Buzzy went to Carson's birthday party, played guitar, and drank Sonic slushies. I'm sure Buzzy had a great weekend!

Bodyology field trip

Our Bodoyology field trip was a success! The kids had a great time learning all about the human body from Mr. Slim Goodbody. I hope they went home and told you about some of the new things they learned! We also finished our human body project which explains how some parts of our body work. It is one of my favorite projects we do all year!
